Pros
- •Picture quality is bright, crisp, and vivid, with deep blacks thanks to Mini-LED, QLED technology, and Full Array Local Dimming.
- •Dolby Vision HDR 10+ support delivers exceptional HDR brightness and detail.
- •Dolby Atmos audio provides immersive, room-filling sound that works well without immediate need for external speakers.
- •Large 85-inch screen is ideal for home theater setups, especially in spacious rooms or basements.
- •Three HDMI 4K 60fps ports work flawlessly with devices like Apple TV, PS5, and PC, including automatic input switching.
- •Google TV interface is user-friendly for first-time users and consolidates “continue watching” lists from multiple streaming services.
- •Voice control with remote is responsive and convenient for basic functions.
- •Plenty of picture and sound customization settings let you fine-tune the experience.
- •Compatible with Google Home and connects easily over WiFi.
- •Good overall value compared to older premium TVs, especially given the large size and advanced display tech.
Cons
- •The Google TV built-in OS and interface can be sluggish, with slow menus and occasional WiFi drops inside the native smart platform.
- •Performance issues likely stem from budget processor and limited RAM, impacting responsiveness.
- •Bright flashes during fast white or colorful scenes (like commercials) can be harsh or uncomfortable without manual brightness adjustments.
- •Bluetooth connectivity can be tricky, requiring disabling discovery mode for some speaker pairings.
- •Remote voice assistant is somewhat limited, especially when installing new apps.
- •The TV is very heavy and large, making safe installation a two-person job.
- •For smoother smart TV performance and more reliable WiFi, an external streaming device (like Apple TV or Roku Stick) is recommended.
- •The recommendations feature is average, sometimes missing more tailored suggestions.
Bottom Line
The Hisense U6 Series 85U6N offers an impressive 85-inch Mini-LED and QLED picture with excellent HDR and immersive Dolby Atmos sound at a very attractive price point for its size. However, its built-in Google TV platform feels a bit underpowered and laggy, so pairing it with an external streaming device could significantly enhance your smart TV experience. If you want top-tier smart responsiveness out of the box, you might also consider other premium options, but for brilliant picture quality at this price and size, the U6 Series is a strong contender worth checking out.
